October 2022 Review
Our Market! + Scheduling Announcements
Thank you to all who came out to celebrate our soft opening with us! We had a great time! Our market has been open every Saturday since the soft opening and will be open every Saturday in the future with a couple exceptions in the coming weeks/months. We will be closed this Saturday, November 12th, and on New Years Eve, December 31. Additionally, we have some alternate dates around Thanksgiving and Christmas. We will be open the day before Thanksgiving, Wednesday, November 23rd instead of the following Saturday, and then open Friday December 23rd instead of Saturday which is Christmas Eve. Hopefully this schedule will be beneficial on both sides, allowing you to incorporate some of our fresh produce in your holiday cooking and allowing us some flexibility to spend time with family. Thank you in advance for understanding! Here is the schedule through the end of December in a more succinct format:
CLOSED - Saturday, November 12th
OPEN - Saturday, November 19th, 9am-1pm
Alt Date + Time OPEN - Wednesday, November 23rd, 1pm - 6pm
OPEN - Saturday, December 3rd, 9am-1pm
OPEN - Saturday, December 10th, 9am-1pm
OPEN - Saturday, December 17th, 9am-1pm
Alt Date + Time OPEN - Friday, December 23rd, 1pm - 6pm
CLOSED - Saturday, December 31st
Please note: If you are unable to make any of the alternate dates/times, please contact us. We may be able to arrange a pick up.
Harvests + Cooking
So far we have mostly harvested eggplants, peppers, squash, pumpkins, basil, tomatillos, and green beans for market. We have had a few tomatoes turning color and a few okra fruit before it gets too cold and are hoping for enough to turn in the next few weeks to share with you. We’ve enjoyed our eggplants barbecued and stir fried, and winter squash (baby blue hubbard & kombucha) roasted over basil noodles and honeynut squash mixed with chevre for homemade ravioli. We are planning to give salsa verde a try with some of our tomatillos over the next few days. In the next few weeks, we are hoping to get some of our recipes (both drink and food) up on our website to share with you all before the holidays.
We Have Eggs!!!
We recently collected our first eggs! Finally, the chickens are starting to cough up their part of the rent! So far we’ve only collected three small eggs over the last two days, but our rate of production should increase pretty rapidly now that they have started! It’s hard to tell when we will have enough to sell at market, but hopefully a few cartons will make a presence either on the 19th or 23rd. On Fridays, or the day before we hold our markets, we’ve been sharing the details of what we’ll have available on our Instagram stories, but please know that big updates like the availability of eggs will be announced here on our website and email list.
